Hey guys. Today I’m going to be do my first pattern review. The pattern I’m reviewing is the Heart Pattern Baby Blanket by Ann Saglimbene. You can get it for free on Ravelry. Here is my experience with this pattern.
First of all let me say that I wanted to do this pattern for a long time and was super excited when I was finally able to find the time to do so.
This pattern is a features lovely heart patterns by using knit and purl stitches which is why I’d rate this pattern as easy. However, this pattern is only written and includes no photos besides the ones that are at the beginning.
So in the beginning it’s pretty much the same stitches for the first few rows than when you start the heart part it gets fun. But I wouldn’t recommend multitasking (knit-flixing) for the first couple heart rows. I had to go back with a crochet hook to fix the stitches that I messed up on and trust me that wasn’t fun. Once you get the hang on this pattern, knowing when to knit and when to purl, it becomes easy peasy.
Pros: Easy pattern to do. Basic stitches and beautiful pattern.
Cons: Nothing really, just pay attention to your stitches.
Tips: Stitch markers saved my life with this pattern.
Conclusion: If I had to do this pattern again than I’d cast on 108 stitches instead of 135 because It come out too wide. But that’s just personal preference. Here’s my Ravelry Journal.
I finished this blanket and ended up donating it before I could take a finish shot of it. Don’t worry, it looked amazing and It was really fun to work up.
